The Terror season 2 could still happen

From Digital Spy

Warning: Contains spoilers for The Terror season one.

The Terror season one may have come to a devastating end, with seemingly no way of the story continuing, but the show's bosses have suggested there's a chance a second season could still happen.

If you know anything about the Franklin Expedition – a British voyage into the Canadian Arctic in the 1800s in which everyone died – then The Terror's season finale shouldn't have surprised you.

With that seeming like a natural point to end the series, showrunners Soo Hugh and David Kajganich have said they will not step away from the project.

But executive director Sir Ridley Scott has told The Wrap that there have been talks about what they'd do if the show was renewed.

"It's difficult too, because in this one, of course, they all die," Scott laughed.

"So we've been coming back to [AMC] with suggestions for a second season, not necessarily along the similar lines. But let's say, this comes up in the AMC title as being almost under the heading of a bit of a horror film. But I think it's not only a horror film, I think it's better than that."

Scott added: "It's a combination of real-life fear – it's interesting that the ship is called Terror as well – real-life fear and trepidation leading to terror. And that gives it the horror banner.

"But I think the characterisations in it are really special. So coming up with another show, almost an entirely different story, is the target next. And I think we had a very good run of the ship with [AMC], so I think they're looking for more."

The Terror aired on AMC and continues on BT TV at 9pm tonight (May 22).
