Terry Christian has ramped up his criticism of "gullible" Leave voters amid fallout from an explosive Brexit row on Good Morning Britain.

The ITV programme invited TV presenter Mr Christian onto the panel to sit beside Conservative politician and staunch Brexiteer Mark Francois following backlash over a tweet in which he labelled Leave voters "pitiable saps".

Much of the conversation on Tuesday morning was taken up with Mr Christian and host Piers Morgan shouting over each other, while co-host Susanna Reid attempted to calm the situation.

She shouted at one point: "Terry, we've heard enough!" after Mr Christian launched into a furious rant.

Following backlash over his appearance, Mr Christian tweeted: "Brexit is a con sold to the gullible by con men like Liar Johnson, Farage, Rees Moog.

"As with all con men, they target the uneducated and Old Age Pensioner as they are the easiest to con."

During the GMB show, Morgan had questioned Mr Christian on a tweet he published and later deleted in which he said people who voted to leave the EU "deserved" to lose their jobs after Brexit.

The tweet read: "Brexiteers deserve all the job losses and hardship heading their and their family’s way. All those tough Christmases ahead for their kids, all their “short-term pain.

"But I will get behind it in future… by buying a Big Issue off the pitiable saps.’

Asked about the tweet by Morgan, Mr Christian responded: "Do you know why I deleted it? Because people who sell the Big Issue aren't pitiable saps."

He continued: "However people who - despite all the evidence - have voted to make their own lives and everybody's harder, are.

"You'll see that. You're seeing it in Honda shutting down, you're seeing it in the 420,000 jobs that have already gone because of Brexit.

"And also, we're not leaving on Friday, we're leaving next year - if they can sort something out."

Mr Christian's comments were met with a shouting Morgan who, despite his attempts, was unable to get a word in edgeways.

Mr Francois, who backed the failed bid to have Big Bong chime on Brexit day, said: "You are the living embodiment of why people voted to leave the EU.

"They didn't want to have to spend their lives being lectured by people like you."

While much of the backlash came from people outraged by Mr Christian's comments, a number of people hit out at GMB's decision to invite Mr Christian on to reflect the Remain viewpoint.

One Twitter user accused show producers of only existing "as a kneejerk to twitter", adding ironically: "Because Everybody knows that Terry Christian is the official spokesman for all those in the UK who voted remain.

"That's why you invited him right, nothing to do with wanting to roast the plonker about an angry tweet."
