Tesco have made the controversial decision to cut sugary drinks from their supermarkets with the headline victims being the beloved Ribena and Capri-Sun.

The supermarket will enact these changes on September 7 when the schools starts again where the sugary drinks are either removed or replaced by no-added-sugar alternatives.

Tesco have made this somewhat unpopular decision targeting kids’ juice as part of its campaign against childhood obesity.

Don’t worry, Coca-cola and other favourite fizzy drinks - these will still be sold.

David Beardmore, Tesco’s soft drinks buying manager told the Grocer: ‘This is part of our 10-point plan against obesity and we have decided that from September we will only sell no-added-sugar drinks in the kids’ juice category.

‘Most of the suppliers are supportive of it and understand what we are doing.’

Outraged fans of blackcurrant cordial have gone to Twitter to voice their outrage at this decision:

A spokeswoman for Lucozade Ribena Suntory said: ‘We believe it is important to offer choice for parents.

‘We will have no-added-sugar flavours available in multi-pack cartons.’

First Sunny D and now this - will children never drink dangerously sugary juice drinks ever again.

As long as they leave Five Alive alone…please.
