Tesco bringing in major change to Express stores 'starting from today'

Tesco will slash the prices of everyday items at its Express stores, the supermarket giant has said. The changes start from Friday, November 22, with Tesco cutting more than 200 own-brand and branded products in its Express convenience stores.

Tesco, which is rivalled by Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Asda and Lidl and Aldi, has made more than 2,800 price cuts across stores in recent months. From this week, a four-pint bottle of milk will cost £1.45 at the grocer’s supermarkets, while 300g chicken breast portions are down 25p to £2.25 and a 200g jar of Tesco Gold Instant Coffee costs 25p less at £2.25.

Among the branded products cut are Warburtons White Sliced Sandwich Rolls, with the price of a six-pack cut by 10p to £1.20, while Domestos Original bleach is £1.19 following an 11p reduction. Tesco chief executive Ken Murphy said: “Today’s round of price cuts on more than 200 lines in our Express stores underlines our commitment to offering great value to Tesco customers.

"Whether you are picking up coffee and milk for the office or a loaf of bread and a tin of soup on the way home, our Express stores offer both convenience and great value.” Other price cuts include Tesco Toastie Thick White Loaf 800g which is down from 85p to 75p and Tesco British Semi-Skimmed Milk 4 pints (now £1.45) Tesco Butterpak Salted Spreadable 500g will cost £2.09, Tesco Cream of Tomato Soup will cost 62p and Warburtons White Sliced Sandwich Rolls will cost £1.20.

Tesco Pene Pasta Quills 500g will set shoppers back 69p while Tesco Pure Sunflower Oil 1L costs £1.99, Tesco Gold Instant Coffee 200g costs £2.25, Tesco Chicken Breast Portions costs £2.25 and Tesco Easy Cook Brown Rice 1kg charges £1.39.

Domestos Original Bleach 750ml will now cost customers £1.19, too, the supermarket says.
