Immingham's Tesco supermarket has closed to members of the public this morning as a result of flooding.

The store, situated on Kennedy Way, is understood to be closed temporarily due to flooding within the entrance foyer. It is unclear when the store will re-open to customers.

Staff appear to be attempting to rectify the issue using a scrubber dryer machine, mops and buckets.

It comes following the rain throughout Monday, which became heavier on Monday evening and continued into Tuesday morning, becoming heavier again between 6.30am and 8.30am.

On Monday, The Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for parts of England, with the possibility of flooding along with a "slight chance" of power cuts, and delays or cancellations to train and bus services.

A spokesperson for Tesco told Grimsby Live: “Our Immingham Superstore has been closed this morning due to water in the store entrance. We apologise for the inconvenience and hope to re-open the store soon.”

The spokesperson confirmed shortly before 2pm that the store has now re-opened.
