Tesco issues urgent recall as shoppers urged to 'check use by date'

Tesco has recalled one of its own-brand products with shoppers urged to check the use by date before eating. The supermarket issued a warning to anyone who has purchased tzatziki dip from its stores.

It comes after traces of salmonella was found in the product during routine testing. Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps if consumed.

The dip in question is Tesco's own-brand version and only affects those with a use by date of November 24, 2024. No other date codes are at risk.

The tzatziki, which is a Greek-style yogurt dip, mixed with cucumber, mint and lemon juice, costs £1.35 and comes in a 200g tub.

Tesco shoppers who have purchased a dip from the contaminated product line has been told to return it to their nearest Tesco supermarket for a full refund. A receipt isn't needed to get your money back. UK customers with questions about the recall can contact Tesco on 0800 505 555.

Tesco is also recalling Perkier Salted Caramel and Dark Chocolate Bars, which come in boxes of three, as they contain almonds which are not mentioned on the label. The packs affected have a best before date of October 8, 2025.

Meanwhile, 160g pots of Al’Fez Natural Tahini are being recalled by the manufacturer as a 'precautionary step' due to the possible presence of salmonella. The recall affects all best before dates from July 2024 up to and including December 2025.
