Tesco, M&S, Waitrose, Lidl shoppers urged to 'ditch' supermarket in December
The best supermarket for your Christmas shop has been named out of Tesco, Aldi, Lidl and more. Aldi received a score of 84% - beating the likes of Marks & Spencer at 82%, Waitrose at 80% and Lidl at 78% - in a survey of over 8,000 Which? members.
People were asked to rate the quality, taste and value for money of the Christmas food they bought - and whether they would recommend them to others. Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “We’re thrilled to be recognised by Which? as the best place to buy Christmas essentials, for the second year in a row!
“This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teams, who are committed to delivering great value, quality, and service to our shoppers. Christmas is a special time for many, and we’re proud to help families across the UK make the most of their festive celebrations, all while keeping their budgets in check.”

Aldi was also named best supermarket for pigs in blankets, stuffing and fresh vegetables. The accolade marks the second year in a row Aldi has achieved the prestigious feat. Ms Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi UK, said: “There’s been so much doom and gloom this year and it looks like Brits are responding by indulging in a few festive comforts even earlier than ever before.
"From mains and sweet treats to staples like mulled wine – we’ve got every course covered with our seasonal range this year. We might not be able to fix the news, but shoppers can count on Aldi to make Christmas amazing without breaking the bank.”
Aldi has been named October’s cheapest supermarket by consumer champion Which?, taking home the accolade for the 12 th consecutive month, too, the supermarket says.
