Some Tesco customers have voiced their disapproval over a new parking rule that limits how long shoppers can park outside certain stores for. Updated rules now restrict overnight visitors, between midnight and 6am, to just a half-hour stay - although the policy will be applied differently depending on the location.

During regular daytime hours from 6am to 8pm, the usual three-hour parking allowance remains unchanged. One disgruntled shopper voiced their concern, saying: "I know to a lot of people this probably seems petty and not a big deal, but to anyone who either has kids or works hours and has to shop in the evening, or for anyone neurodivergent it's absolutely not okay."

Another customer lamented the new rule as too restrictive, saying that they would "need more than an hour in the evening" to complete their shopping. A third customer added: "I also can only do the shopping on an evening. Similarly, it's two hours to myself once a week. This is a really inconsiderate thing to do."

In response to these worries, Tesco stated: "It is important to us that all our customers can find a space when they visit our stores." However, the new rules appear to have influenced shopping habits, with one customer declaring a switch in their loyalty: "We used to spend £110 a week at Tesco for husband and I, costs £65 a week at Aldi. Fresher veg, fruit, salad and the British steaks are excellent. Vote with your feet people."
