Tesco warns shoppers 'please don't eat it' and offers them free refund

Tesco has issued emergency refunds to shoppers after being caught up in the Greencore product recall. Products from Boots, Asda, Tesco, Co-op, Aldi, Sainsbury's and Amazon are part of the recall from Greencore and Samworth Brothers Manton Wood, who are the companies that supplied the products.

In a product recall online, Tesco says: "We’re recalling various Tesco sandwiches, subs and wraps due tothe possible contamination of E. coli. This is a precautionary measure, as noE. coli has been found in any of these products, at the time of this recall.

"No other products are affected by this recall. The following products with a use by date up to and including 16 June 2024: Tesco Chicken Salad Sandwich, Tesco Chicken Salad Sub, Tesco BBQ Chicken Wrap, Tesco Hoi Sin Duck Wrap, Tesco The Chicken Club Sandwich, Tesco Tuna Crunch Sub, Tesco Spicy Bean Wrap, Tesco Chicken Bacon & Lettuce Sandwich, Tesco Fajita Chicken Wrap, The Gym Kitchen Peri Peri Chicken Chilled Wrap, Tesco Summer Edition Greek Style Chicken Gyros Wrap.

"If you’ve bought an affected product, please don’t eat it. Instead, return it to a Tesco store for a refund. No receipt is required. Use our store locator to find your nearest Tesco store. For more information, you can contact our Customer Services team on 0800 505 555."

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) said: "Samworth Brothers Manton Wood is taking the precautionary step of recalling various Tesco and One Stop sandwiches and wraps because of possible contamination with E. coli.

"E. coli has not been detected in the products listed below but they are being recalled as a precaution." Symptoms caused by STEC organisms include severe diarrhoea (including bloody diarrhoea), abdominal pain, and sometimes haemolytic uremic syndrome, (HUS), a serious condition that can lead to kidney failure and can be fatal, the FSA adds.
