It has been revealed how much Liverpool will have to pay Atalanta to sign Teun Koopmeiners this summer. The 26-year-old midfielder continues to be heavily linked with a move to Anfield following his eye-catching performances in the Italian top flight.

Koopmeiners, who sees his contract at the Gewiss Stadium expire in June 2027, featured 34 times for La Dea in the Serie A last season, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists. Playing a key role in Gian Piero Gasperini's side, he helped Atalanta finish fourth and achieve Champions League qualification.

The Netherlands international also got his hands on some silverware, defeating Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final. His impressive displays reportedly courted the interest of several top clubs, including Liverpool.

According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta Dello Sport, the Reds are 'in pole position' to sign Koopmeiners this summer. The report states that Atalanta want €60m (£50.8m) for the Dutchman's signature – however there's an issue.

It's said that Juventus are also interested in Koopmeiners, who would rather to stay in Italy. La Dea, of course, would much prefer to sell the playmaker abroad rather than to a direct competitor.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport have clarified that no bid has been made for the Atalanta ace yet. Speaking to Dutch outlet De Telegraaf in March, Koopmeiners provided an update on his future.

"I have indicated to Atalanta that I want to make a move next summer," said the maestro. "But there must be something very nice to exchange that for Atalanta. My girlfriend and I are having a great time in Italy, but I can put up with the rain for some clubs in England!

"I hope there will be great options that I can think about. And then I hope that Atalanta receives a nice amount for me, because I had a wonderful time there."

Ahead of Atalanta's clash against Liverpool in the Europa League quarter-final second-leg, Gasperini was quizzed on Koopmeiners' future. As quoted by Italian outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the 66-year-old said: "He is playing with Atalanta and is also playing very well.

"Atalanta are in three competitions, we hope to be in everything in the next month too. It is clear that in this period of the season, there may be clubs less involved in the cups and therefore these rumours are fuelled because other teams have little to do and maybe they wonder if it’s right that Atalanta are in the cup quarter-finals, so these things come out."

Then, in an interview with Sky Italia after the Europa League final, Koopmeiners said: "I'm very happy at Atalanta and now I just want to think about winning this trophy, then we'll see. Will I play the Champions League with them? Let's see, let's see."
