Texas Courthouse Ravaged by Late-Night Fire

A courthouse more than a century old in Mason, Texas, was ravaged by fire late on February 4.

Footage by Rich C Klein shows the building being engulfed in flames. “We are losing our beautiful and historic Mason County Courthouse tonight," Klein wrote on Facebook. “Such a sad night for all of Mason County community.”

The fire broke out at around 10 pm and by 1:30 am the only thing remaining was the “outer rock wall structure," local news outlet KXAN said.

Mason County Judge Jerry Bearden told KXAN the fire was a “terrible tragedy for people in the county". He said the courthouse was “the focal point of our community.”
