Texas Firefighters Rescue Dog Trapped in 30-Foot Well

Firefighters in Waco, Texas, rescued a dog trapped in a 30-foot-deep abandoned well on Sunday, September 15.

Footage shared to the Waco Fire Department Twitter account shows the dog, a one-year-old called Hazel, being winched out of the well. Ten firefighters took part in the rescue and the dog was reunited with its owner at the scene.

Speaking to local media, Waco Fire Suppression Lieutenant Billy Eary said the well had a lid on it.

“Apparently the lid had deteriorated and the kids said they walk through that lot all the time going to their friend’s house. Luckily it wasn’t them we had to rescue,” Eary said. Credit: Waco Fire Department via Storyful
