London commuters are facing a miserable rush hour due to delays across five London Underground lines.

The District and Piccadilly lines were both affected by severe delays on Thursday evening “due to trespassers on the track in Barons Court”, a spokesman for Transport for London said.

Footage taken at the scene shows police officers making their way through a crowd while yelling “out the way” near the station as blue lights flash in the background.

Witnesses reportedly said they had seen a man climb onto the top of a train.

A spokesman for TfL said there was “no service between Earl’s Court and Richmond/Ealing Broadway due to trespassers on the track. Severe delays on the rest of the line.”

At 6.30pm, the spokesman said on Twitter that the “trespassers have been dealt with” but the severe delays remain.

Tickets were being accepted on local bus routes.

Tube users on the Hammersmith & City, Circle and Metropolitan lines were also facing travel disruption after a person was taken ill on a train earlier in the afternoon at Baker Street.

“Minor delays due to a person ill on a train earlier at Baker Street,” a spokesman said.

The delays remain in place at 6.50pm.
