Thai Protesters, in Show of Defiance, Give 'Hunger Games' Salute to King's Motorcade

Anti-government protesters in Thailand showed their defiance against King Maha Vajiralongkorn on Wednesday, October 14, by raising a three-finger pro-democracy salute as the king’s motorcade passed through central Bangkok.

The scene was described as “unprecedented” by journalist Andrew MacGregor Marshal, a former Reuters correspondent who has covered Thailand extensively throughout his career.

The three-finger salute, inspired by The Hunger Games movie franchise, has become a symbol of anti-government protests in Thailand in recent years.
