All About Thalia Besson, the Actress Behind 'Emily in Paris'’s Genevieve

The fourth season of Emily in Paris on Netflix welcomed a new character named Genevieve, Laurent’s daughter from a past relationship who arrived just in time to stir the pot. Genevieve was living in New York and, much like Emily, she arrived in Paris to jumpstart a new life and a big career.

While Emily and Genevieve initially hit it off, their similarities begin to rub the former Chicagoan the wrong way. Whatever Lily Collins’ character thinks of Genevieve, viewers took to actress Thalia Besson as the newcomer to the cast. Here’s everything to know about Besson, her previous credits, and what she’s had to say about her role on one of Netflix’s biggest hits.

Who is Thalia Besson?

Much like Collins, whose dad is Genesis frontman Phil Collins, Besson is the daughter of a big figure in the entertainment industry. Born in 2001, her father is director Luc Besson, who has helmed many films, including Léon: The Professional and The Fifth Element. Her mother is producer Virginie Besson-Silla. In 2017, his daughter had a small role in his movie Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. Her only other credits before Emily in Paris is in the 2023 film Dangerous Waters and in 2022’s Arthur, Malédiction.

Besson has also tried her hand at directing. She wrote on Instagram about wrapping her second film in a post in July 2024.

Her first film is “almost ready,” according to another post from earlier that same month.

Besson will also be appearing in the upcoming travel horror film Triton, directed by Janell Shirtcliff.

What has Thalia Besson said about working on Emily in Paris?

So far, Besson doesn’t seem to have done much press for the show, but the way season four ends indicates she may come back as Emily’s rival next season. After Emily headed to Rome to be with Marcello Muratori, played by another new cast member, Eugenio Franceschini, Gabriel rebuffs Genevieve’s advances. He then decides to try and win Emily back, if he can. Besson may yet return as another bump in the road to the couple’s happiness.
