Mum leaves hilarious passive-aggressive note to stop kids turning the heating on

The nights are drawing and the temperature is going down.

But that is still no excuse to put on the heating - at least if you live in Autumn Brandon’s house.

The Michigan mum has become an internet sensation after she posted a picture on her Facebook page showing how she has warned her three sons not to tamper with the heating.

Autumn attached a note to the central heating switch which tells her boys they can only turn the heating on if they can answer yes to the following three questions: Are you wearing a hoodie, pants and socks? Is it November? - and then the clincher...

Even her sons have managed to get two out of two, she then asks: “Do you pay the gas bill?

The post has been shared almost 7,000 times and drawn more than 27,000 comments, many of them supportive of Autumn.

And it can get cold in Clarkston, in Michigan, in the U.S. Not just mild, British winter cold, but freezing proper American winter cold.

Already temperatures are down to two degrees Celsius and it is not unknown for 15 inches of snow to fall on the town during a few days in deepest winter.

But that's still no excuse, sorry kids.
