The 1975's Matt Healy: 'Being Taylor Swift's Boyfriend Would Be Emasculating'

Yikes, something tells us that The 1975’s Matt Healy is hoping for a fight with Calvin Harris because he’s made some seriously controversial comments about what life would be like if you were Taylor Swift’s boyfriend.

Hint: He reckons ‘not good’.

The musician shot to fame when he was romantically linked to the US superstar, who is hotly rumoured to be the subject of his song 'She’s American’, when they wore each other’s merchandise.

And although the link to TayTay gave Matt a whole heap of worldwide attention, he reckons he couldn’t cope with the 'emasculation’ that comes with dating her.

Matt explained: “I feel like I’m not very good at relationships. And the reason I mention that is because if I had [properly] gone out with Taylor Swift, I would’ve been, 'F*cking hell, I am not being Taylor Swift’s boyfriend.’

"You know, 'F*ck. That.’ That’s also a man thing, a de-masculinating, emasculating thing.”

Well we reckon Calvin is handling it all rather well…

The 26-year-old went on to add that despite the attention he’d garnered, Taylor didn’t have too big an impact on his life.

He told Q Magazine: “I don’t do anything else, so it doesn’t leave a lot of room for me going out or sh*gging someone.

"So the one time I did have a flirtation with a girl it ends up going everywhere… I mean, I got on E! News and people were like, 'Who’s Matt Healy?’ so that was cool.

"But I didn’t make a big deal out of it myself. It’s not really anything to talk about, because if she wasn’t Taylor Swift we wouldn’t be talking about her. She wasn’t a big impact on my life.

"It’s just interesting to me how interested the world is [in] Taylor Swift.”

We reckon Matt might want to avoid Calvin and Taylor at any future industry events…
