The Apprentice 2016: Lord Alan Sugar Confirms New Series Start Date

Lord Alan Sugar has confirmed the start date for the latest series of his hit BBC One show The Apprentice.

The reality game show in which a group of aspiring businessmen and women compete for the chance to win a £250,000 investment from the multi-millionaire magnate will return for its 12th series later this year.

Taking to Twitter recently, Lord Sugar confirmed that The Apprentice 2016 would be back on our TV screens from October this year.

And even though an exact airdate is still to be revealed, it seems probable that the new series will kick off in the middle of the month, repeating the previous two years’ pattern whereby it launched on October 14.

Applying the logic that the series premieres typically launch on a Wednesday evening, it’s likely that the new series will return on October 12, following The Great British Bake Off in its usual 9pm slot.

The Apprentice 2016 will then expectantly run until December with a final scheduled around Christmas time, which means that filming should have taken place earlier this year.

Karren Brady and Claude Littner are both believed to be reuniting with Lord Sugar as he searches for his next business partner, especially since Claude only joined the show in 2015 after former fan favourite Nick Hewer stepped down.

“I think I was all right last year. But I think I can do better,” he revealed ahead of his second appearance on the board. “With the role I was doing before, it was right that I was tougher. It’s the interviews so it’s got to be very strict and stern. It’s almost the final at that stage.

"You’re helping find someone who will win. So you can’t play around. But when I’m there in my new role I can afford to show a different side to my character.”

Confident contender Joseph Valente impressed in the boardroom and proceeded to win the competition in 2015, securing the investment in a bid to expand his plumbing business, Impra-Gas – but which of the candidates will hear the immortal words, “You’re hired”, from the media tycoon this year?
