The Masked Singer has unmasked Bush Baby, revealing that he is Cold Feet star John Thomson.

None of the show’s judges guessed Bush Baby’s identity, although Jonathan Ross, who used to work with Thomson on Saturday Zoo, had brought his name up in a previous episode.

Viewers were surprised by the reveal too, with guesses having included Matt Lucas and Neil Morrissey.

Talking about the clues to who he was, actor Thomson said: “I do magic as an amateur magician and I go to the Blackpool Magic Convention every year.”

He described his time on The Masked Singer as “great fun”, but admitted that it had been tough wearing Bush Baby’s heavy furry costume on stage.

Thomson said: “As a Northerner, who doesn’t feel the cold and is already covered in hair, it’s not been the greatest.

“I will admit, there is a sense of relief this evening.”

In tonight’s show, Thomson sang Please Release Me, a nod to The Fast Show which it was the theme tune for.

Bush Baby went up against Dragon in the judges’ vote, but with no sing-off tonight, they decided to put Dragon straight through to the next show.

Most viewers were convinced that Blob was Lenny Henry, although Jonathan Ross thought that clues in tonight’s episode pointed towards him being David Walliams.

Lots of viewers are convinced that Robin is JLS singer Aston Merrygold, while Sheridan Smith is still a popular guess for Sausage’s identity.

Thomson follows Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Mel B, Martine McCutcheon and Glenn Hoddle out of the competition.

Next week sees a double elimination from the show, with two celebrities unmasked.
