'The Masked Singer': Fans are proved right in double unmasking of Viking and Blob
The Masked Singer has lost two of its celebrity contestants tonight in a double eviction - Viking and Blob were unmasked as Morten Harket and Lenny Henry.
Blob and Viking’s identities didn’t come as much of a surprise to many of the show’s fans, who had insisted that they were definitely comedian Lenny Henry and singer Morten Harket since the beginning of the series.
Confirming that he was Blob, Henry said he’d done The Masked Singer as a welcome break from the monotony of lockdown.
He said: “I’ve been in lockdown since March, so they said come and do this and I was like, yes ok! I’ll come!
“So to be here with people and listening to the panel, it’s been so lovely, it’s been a joy.”
A-ha singer Harket said: “I did it because I needed to be kicked out of my comfort zone, and I have been.”
Viking was voted out first after getting the least number of votes from the studio audience, meaning he had to be unmasked immediately.
He was in the bottom three contestants with Blob and Dragon, but the panel chose to save Dragon from being unmasked this time.
The double elimination brings the contest down to just five masked singers competing for this season’s crown.
Comedian Alan Carr joined the panel as a celebrity judge this week and was a hit with viewers, who thought he should become a permanent fixture.
Lots of viewers think that the clues are pointing towards Harlequin being singer Gabrielle, while Stacey Solomon, Stacey Dooley and Sheridan Smith remain popular guesses for Sausage.
Celebrities already unmasked this series include Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Mel B, Martine McCutcheon, Glenn Hoddle and John Thomson.
The remaining five masked singers - Robin, Badger, Harlequin, Dragon and Sausage go through to next week’s semi-final where Matt Lucas will join as guest judge.
