The Voice Winner Kevin Simm Lands His First Gig – As A Wedding Singer

The days of talent shows being the passport to multi-million pound fortunes are dead.

Victor of The Voice Kevin Simm has landed his first gig as champion since winning the BBC talent hunt – as a wedding singer.

The former Liberty X singer, below, worked as a wedding photographer before he went on the show.

And he told the Daily Star after the win at the weekend: “I am booked for a wedding on Saturday. I will be there. I never let people down.

“It’s a massive day for the people involved and so I plan to honour the booking. I also sing at weddings too.”

But his debut solo single All You Good Friends is already on the way to becoming No 1 in the iTunes chart, and went in at No 2 last night.

Lancashire-born Simm, 35, below with his The Voice mentor Ricky Wilson, also added he was aware he could plummet back to obscurity if his career didn’t take off.

He told The Sun: “I know that if you win this competition there’s no guarantee of success – it was always going to be a gamble.

“There’s a long way to go, obviously. This week I’ve got to see what happens with my song in the charts.”

“It’s scary because I really didn’t expect to win The Voice. Whatever happens I’ll carry on gigging.”

He added: “I had a successful career before this. If I was to fail I’d be in a better position to gig. I mean it’s singing all the way, I am s*** at anything else.”

Simm shot to fame in 2001 with Liberty X, above, and reunited with his former bandmates Kelli Young, Jessica Taylor and Tony Lundon at Saturday’s finale, with only band member Michelle Heaton absent as she was at the Grand National in Liverpool.
