The Wanted's Tom Parker says he won't let his cancer 'consume' his life

Tom Parker has said he doesn’t pay his cancer too much attention as he refuses to let it “consume” his life.

The Wanted singer revealed last year that he had been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour while his wife Kelsey was expecting their second baby.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast, the father-of-two said he is focusing on his family.

“It’s not that I’m ignoring cancer but I just don’t want to pay it any attention,” he said.

“The more attention you pay it, the more it consumes your life and I don’t want it to consume my life."

“I’ve got kids, I’ve got family," Parker went on.

"So I just try and just ignore it as much as possible.”

Parker has been going through treatment and last month revealed he had reason to celebrate after a scan on his 33rd birthday showed a “slight reduction” in the tumour.

"The last couple of days have been filled with dread and worry but I’m pleased to announce that the results of yesterday’s scan (lovely birthday present), are stable with a slight reduction in the tumour if anything," he wrote on Instagram.

“I can’t tell you how grateful I am to receive this news."

The star and the rest of The Wanted are set to play a one off live show at The Royal Albert Hall on 20th September in aid of Stand Up To Cancer and the National Brain Appeal.

It will mark the first time the Glad You Came singers have performed since 2014.

The boy band have also announced that they are releasing a greatest hits album.
