Yahoo News The X Factor 2016: Honey G Looks Unrecognisable Without Hip Hop Attire
Honey G, whose real name is Anna Georgette Gilford, became a household name following her X Factor debut on Saturday night.
Putting the ‘G’ in Honey G, the aspiring rapper – wearing a metallic bomber jacket, a pair of blue-mirrored sunglasses and an oversized snapback – performed her own rendition of Missy Elliot’s Work It before securing a place at Boot Camp.

In reality, however, the contestant from North West London (aka North Wheezy) looks quite different.
In a series of throwback selfies, posted on her Facebook page, Honey G is almost unrecognisable as she ditches her hip-hop attire to take some downtime from her urban alter ago.
In one photo, posted in April, Honey G looks a far cry from a gangster rapper, as she wears some subtle make-up with her long brunette tousled locks resting on her shoulders.

In another image, she appears fresh faced as she poses in sports gear complete with a headband, assumingly about to work out rather than work it like she did in the judges’ audition room over the weekend.
Yet, despite this drastic contrast in appearance, the performer insists that there is nothing fake about her persona, and that she is in fact a “genuine urban artist” who hopes to represent for “The X Factor massive.”
Speaking to The Mirror, the 35-year-old said: “Me coming into the competition is like a breakthrough – the judges need to wake up to that. This isn’t a joke.

“Nothing about me is like a joke act. Or a joke ting. It’s real, it’s serious. It’s about getting my music across and staying true to the game. I’m the real deal. I’m the realest chick. I’m the realest chick in the game right now.”
Further highlighting her ambition, she added: “There are a lot of brilliant artists doing really good things but I can bring something new to the table.“
