The X-Files returns next year with a brand new miniseries consisting of six episodes - some 14 years after the original series ended.

But the show’s star David Duchovny, who reprises his role of Fox Mulder, says he is open to making EVEN more new episodes with co-star Gillian Anderson. YES PLEASE!

But there is a catch…

Asked if the new miniseries could become an annual event, he explained: “I don’t see why not. But we don’t want to just make more episodes because we can. I’m not interested in that. And I don’t think Chris is interested in that.

“If Chris is re-inspired to start thinking about where to take the show and the characters next I’m sure we’d all listen.”

David famously scaled down his role on the show in the final seasons of its original run because he was so eager to do other acting work.

Now, he opens up about clashing with Gillian - who plays Dana Scully - on-set.

“We’ve been good for quite a while work-wise. Whatever difficulties we may have had over the years [stemmed from] wanting to get off the show… the fatigue and a hot-house feeling of being in the same room with the same people for nine years,” he told TVLine.

“We’re good now. We have a shorthand and I really enjoy working with her a lot. That was probably the easiest part of transitioning back into the show was our work together.”

THANK GOD they don’t hate each other because we’re going to need new X-Files episodes for the next 50 years, OK?
