Directors of a longstanding wellbeing service operating in Derby have made the decision to liquidate the business following challenging financial circumstances in recent years.

Inspirative Arts Derby Community Interest, a social enterprise based in Agard Street, specialised in helping vulnerable people through a variety of different therapies. Directors of the community interest company announced the winding up of operations on November 18, after 15 years of providing services to a variety of vulnerable people.

Sarah Paine and Rebecca Morley, board directors of Inspiratortive Arts, released a joint statement on Facebook regarding the liquidation. They said: "This has been a difficult decision made after careful assessment of our financial position and consideration of our long-term viability amidst increasing operational challenges.

"Founded to provide therapeutic arts services and support mental well-being in our community, Inspirative Arts has been privileged to work with a wide range of individuals and groups, making a meaningful impact.

"Despite our commitment to sustainability, recent financial constraints—exacerbated by funding limitations and rising costs—have made it unfeasible to continue operations.

"We deeply regret the impact this will have on our valued employees, clients, and partners. Our priority remains to handle this transition with transparency and integrity."

The social enterprise offered arts therapies through arts, drama, dance and music therapies as well as wellbeing arts of children and adults. They specialised in helping those with learning and physical disabilities, as well as those who suffer with mental health issues.

Sarah Paine and Rebecca Morley continued: "On behalf of the board, I would like to express heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has supported Inspirative Arts. Your contributions have been invaluable, and we are proud of what we have accomplished together. It is with deep regret that we face this outcome, and we extend our sincere apologies for any inconvenience or hardship this may cause."

The liquidation of the company was undertaken voluntarily, as a result of the increasing operational costs that have been growing ever apparent in recent months, the directors said. In August a partner organisation, Derby Community Action, released a statement on their behalf warning of the financial difficulties that they were under.
