Theresa May’s Brexit defeat: The funniest Twitter reactions
It was another night of political drama in Westminster as MPs rejected Theresa May’s Brexit deal in the House of Commons – and, as ever, many of the thousands of people tweeting through it all sought to find humour amid the chaos.
The vote of 432 noes to 202 ayes, the largest government defeat on the floor of the House of Commons in modern political history, led some to wonder if the Prime Minister was feeling sheepish.

“Alexa, where’s the nearest field of wheat,” tweeted parody account @MrsTheresaMay, referencing Mrs May’s 2017 claim that running through a farmer’s wheat fields is the “naughtiest thing” she has ever done.
Twitter user @AliceAvizandum wrote in reaction to the vote: “Wild that Theresa May isn’t a socialist for how much she loves being publicly owned.”

As often happens when Brexit uncertainty rears its head, several Twitter users were ironically reposting former Prime Minister David Cameron’s tweet from the 2015 election campaign.
“Britain faces a simple and inescapable choice – stability and strong Government with me, or chaos with Ed Miliband,” Mr Cameron wrote at the time.

Another parody account, this time for 10 Downing Street’s own Larry the Cat, referenced the now infamous post, saying: “I’m starting to think that chaos with Ed Miliband would have been the wiser choice…”

On a similar theme, one user, Ollie Cole, simply shared a picture of former Labour leader Mr Miliband sat in the Commons, seemingly staring into the abyss.

In a sign of the British stiff upper lip, one popular gif showed Shaun Of The Dead actor Simon Pegg winking into camera in a pub with a pint in hand.

It was shared by Olympic gold medallist hockey player Samantha Quek, who wrote: “Let’s go down The Winchester and wait for all this to blow over!”
And the film’s director even chipped in, with Edgar Wright tweeting “Some Brexit news” along with a clip of an exploding bridge.

Speaking of Brexit news, some seemed to be blissfully behind on theirs.
Oh, Britain and exit. I get it.
