Theresa May’s leadership ratings have hit a new low a poll revealed today.

An Ipsos MORI poll showed her performance satisfaction rating sank five points to -27, with just 32% of respondents satisfied by her performance, to 59% who were dissatisfied.

This follows a difficult period for Mrs May, including a disastrous party conference speech, Westminster sex scandals, cabinet resignations and Conservative infighting over Brexit.

However, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has been unable to take advantage as the party are seen as ‘divided’, and only lead the Tories by two percent.

This comes after comments from Tony Blair last month, who criticised the Labour leadership for not being further ahead in the polls.

Worryingly for Mrs May, three-quarters of the public see the Conservatives as divided, and only 43% think the party is fit to govern.

When it comes to the economy, 58% think things will get worse over the next year, hardly a boon of confidence following Philip Hammond’s Budget last week.

Yet it is not all bad news for the PM.

Labour are seen as almost being as divided as the Conservatives (62%), and just 38% see them as fit to govern.

Only 31% think they offer a good set of leaders – though the number for the Conservatives is just 27%.

The polling reflects the continued distrust the public have for politicians, who came last in a ‘most trusted profession’ poll earlier this week.
