Thick Smoke Billows From Fire at Los Angeles Train Yard

Thick smoke billowed from a train yard fire in the Wilmington area of Los Angeles, California, on October 13.

The Los Angeles Fire Department said they were able to contain the blaze involving shipping containers and tires in 93 minutes. Earlier explosions that prompted a hazmat investigation were from exploding tires, rather than hazardous materials, the fire department said.

According to local reports, a man was taken into custody in connection with the fire on Wednesday.
