Thieves Take Full Driveway From Florida Home

Detectives have made an appeal for witnesses after a complete driveway was stolen from a house in Florida.

The alert was issued after the 300 sq ft entrance was taken from the home in Reddick, 80 miles northwest of Orlando.

Sheriffs were called to the scene, in a semi-rural part of Marion County, after a resident noticed the theft when she arrived home on Tuesday night.

According to the Ocala Star-Banner newspaper, a woman told sheriff's deputy Michelle Wright that she left her house at about 7.30am.

But when she returned home at 6pm she felt a large "bump" as she turned off the main road.

The paper said: "She said she got out of her vehicle and noticed that the concrete pavers used to make the driveway were missing."

The NW 120 St area of Reddick consists of farms used for thoroughbred horses.

The nearby city of Ocala is nicknamed "the horse capital of the world".

The newspaper added: "A witness told the deputy about seeing two men digging up the pavers.

"But (the witness) said the activity didn't seem suspicious because the victim had workers constructing a barn on the property."

Detective Greg Spates of the North Marion district has been tasked with uncovering the perpetrators.

One man was described as a tall, heavily-built black male in his 30s, while the other man of interest was described as a lightly-built white male about 5ft 3in tall.
