Things to do at home during lockdown: The best online and virtual events taking place this weekend

You know the drill by now: things are starting to ease across the country ever so slightly, but we’re still socially distancing and spending most of our time indoors.

Still, the internet has done it's thing, with theatre, comedy and art exhibitions all headed online.

Besides, there's light on the horizon: more restaurants are opening for delivery, there are plenty of online cocktail and wine masterclasses to get stuck into and cinemas are hopeful of opening soon as well.

Head to a virtual rave with Junction 2

Junction 2 should have been returning to west London for another edition this weekend, but instead the dance music festival is going online with a number of exclusive sets from big-name DJs: Adam Beyer, Anastasia Kristensen, Daniel Avery and more will all contribute. Sets run from 5pm-10pm on Saturday.

Up your baking game with Bread Ahead

Fancy taking your banana bread skills to the next level? Bread Ahead is helping people up their baking game during lockdown with a series of interactive classes and learning resources. As well as daily live sessions on Instagram, the bakery chain has launched a new E-Learning platform, with E-workbooks and live workshop bookings available for £25.

Take part in a virtual 5km run for Pride Month

LGBTQI+ ambassador Nikki Hiltz is leading a 5km on virtual training platform Zwift this weekend as part of Pride Week, in conjunction with the charity Athlete Ally. Get involved from 5pm on Saturday for a fun, but challenging session. There are weekly Ride and Run events on Tuesdays and Saturdays to get involved with throughout the month too, with the likes of Team USA runner, Matt Llano, and Pan American Games gold medalist, Nikki Hiltz.

Donmar Warehouse's Coriolanus starring Tom Hiddleston is the latest star-studded production going online as part of the National Theatre’s lockdown series. Mark Gatiss, Hadley Fraser, Alfred Enoch and Debora Findlay also star in the adaptation of Shakespeare’s political tragedy from 2014, directed by Josie Rourke.

Watch the lunar eclipse

A fine penumbral lunar eclipse will be visible on June 5 to most regions of the world, marking the second of four lunar eclipses to be expected this year, and the last to be visible from the UK. The eclipse will begin on June 5 at 6.45pm BST, and is expected to finish at 10.04pm. Read our full guide here.
