Things to do at home during lockdown: The best online and virtual events taking place today

Lockdown is beginning to ease slightly across the country, but people can still expect to be social distancing and staying indoors for the time being.

Thankfully, London has been busy moving its cultural output online, and millions of us have been tuning in for theatre, comedy and art exhibitions from our sofas.

There’s good news for foodies, too, with more restaurants opening for delivery, and cinemas hopeful of opening soon.

Visit a 3-D virtual art gallery

A new virtual gallery has been launched online, set up by UK artist Sickboy’s collective Fluorescent Smogg. Head online to check out The Dividing Line, a collection of immersive artworks and collections, perfect for getting your art fix from home. Artists including Taku Obata, Mars 1, Ralph Steadman and Rick Griffin have contributed everything from video installations to screen printing and bronze casting for the series.

Check out Headlong's Unprecedented theatre series

Evening Standard Theatre Awards best newcomer Jasmine Lee-Jones and Quiz writer James Graham are just two of the many playwrights to be composing work for Headlong theatre’s Unprecedented: Real Time Theatre From a State of Isolation. Gemma Arterton, Paterson Joseph and Katherine Parkinson are three of the stars involved, performing in 14 short films about lockdown life. Celebrate 10 Days of All Points East

All Points East was set to take over Victoria Park for its annual shindig this week, but has instead gone online to deliver 10 days of exclusive gigs, archive sets, cocktail masterclasses and more. Anna Calvi and Jehnny Beth are among the featured artists so far, with the series continuing until May 31.

Test your knowledge with Fourpure ​Brewing Co.

London-based brewery Fourpure is getting in on the quizzing game by hosting an Instagram pub quiz. It starts at 5pm every Wednesday, but if you can’t make it, don’t worry – the interactive quiz is available on its Instagram Stories for 24 hours, and you can enter any time during that period. Answers are tracked via the Story’s slides, and one of the highest-scoring players is then selected at random and wins a 12-pack of Fourpure beers.
