A third man has appeared in court after being charged with the murder of four children after a devastating house fire in Salford.

David Worrall, 25, of no fixed address, appeared before Salford Magistrates Court earlier today and was flanked by prison officers as he wore a grey tracksuit.

He spoke only to confirm his name, age, address and nationality as he was read his charges of four counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder and one count of arson with intent to endanger life.

It comes after 23-year-old Zac Bolland and Courtney Brierley, 20, appeared before magistrates yesterday before appearing at Manchester Crown Court alongside Worrall later today.

The fire has already claimed the lives of four children – with 15-year-old Demi Pearson dying at the house in Worsley before her brother Brandon and sister Lacie died later in hospital.

Their three-year-old sister Lia died in hospital on Wednesday, while their mother Michelle remains in hospital.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed there had been ‘earlier incidents’ at the address – with security measures being put in place at the mid-terrace home, including the fitting of a device to the property’s letterbox.

It has also emerged that Bolland was arrested just a few hundred yards from the scene in Jackson Street on Monday evening.

Footage posted to Facebook shows a handcuffed man with his face obscured by a grey hooded top as another man shouts ‘Dead man walking’ off camera.

Lauren Murray, who captured the moment in Grosvenor Road at around 6pm, said: ‘I was walking down the street to go home and saw the police driving down really slow and then they pulled up outside my house.

‘The next thing, I saw Zak in a silver car so I got my phone out and started filming because I knew people would want to see him caught. Courtney was sat in the back of the car surrounded by police while he was led away, her face was just white..’

Bolland and Brierley have both been remanded in custody.
