Third murder suspect makes second attempt for reduced bond

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN)—Dakevion Lawton is fighting to have his $1.5 million bond reduced.

Lawton is one of three men accused of shooting and killing 51-year-old Roger Felder.

Authorities say that Felder was trying to de-escalate a situation that turned physical and was later shot in the parking lot of the Pearl Lounge Restaurant.

Lawton applied for a reduced bond in June last year, but Houston County Judge Benjamin Lewis denied that request.

Lawton hopes Houston County Judge Kevin Moulton will reduce his bond to $150,000.

Prosecutors argue otherwise, saying that Lawton is a threat to society and should not be rewarded with a reduced bond.

Judge Felder has yet to make a decision and will take this request under advisement.
