Mrs T the tortoise has made a wheely great recovery - after having her legs gnawed off by rats as she hibernated.

The 90-year-old tortoise has been fitted with wheels so she can still get about after her horrific ordeal.

Owner Jude Ryder, 56, discovered that a hibernating Mrs T had been maimed when she went to check on her last month tucked up in the garden shed.

Vets were able to save her life but Jude knew it would all be in vain if she wasn't able to get mobile again.

So she turned to her son Dale for a little help and he came up with the idea of fitting wheels to the front of Mrs T's shell.

And the experiment has proved to be a roaring success with Mrs T taking to her new 'legs' and moving even faster than she used to.
