This Fish’s Name Is So Rude Scientists Want To Change It

There’s one fish which nature documentaries tend to gloss over for some reason.

The - ahem - Slippery Dick Wrasse.

The animal is actually completely innocuous, and not in any way intended to be rude.

It was highlighted by a biologist as ‘embarassing to your ears, especially in front of female colleagues’.

The famous Dick came up as part of a hashtag discussion among biologists about animals with #stupidcommonnames.

Other highlights included a ‘grateful midget’ and a ‘Mexican jumping viper’ which, er, can’t jump.
