Two men who were held on suspicion of murdering university student Thomas Jones have been released.

The pair were arrested on Monday but are no longer being treated as suspects. Police said they had cooperated fully.

Mr Jones has not been seen or heard from in Worcester since the early hours of Wednesday last week.

The 18-year-old had only moved to the city, where he was studying a university primary teaching course, three days before he went missing.

Det Insp James Bayliss, from West Mercia Police, said: "The investigation into the disappearance of Thomas remains a priority and we are keeping an open mind as to the circumstances surrounding Thomas's disappearance. This remains a missing person enquiry.

"I would like to thank the public of Worcester for their support and concern, the community response has been exceptional. We continue to actively search the area and I would reiterate that anyone with any information should contact the police as soon as possible."

Anyone with any information is urged to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident number 431 of September 19. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
