Thor beats Wonder Woman at global box office
Thor: Ragnarok has overtaken Wonder Woman at the global box office, and is now the third highest-grossing superhero movie of 2017.
The third Thor movie, released back in October, has now grossed $833.7 million (£624.8 million) worldwide, beating Wonder Woman's takings of $821.7 million (£615.8 million).
This puts the Norse god's haul behind Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 ($863.5 million/£647.12 million) and Spider-Man: Homecoming ($880 million/£659.49 million) in the superhero stakes.
However, there is some good news for Wonder Woman, as Ragnarok is still trailing it in the US domestic box office by $111 million (£83 million).
The DC movie has already broken massive records, and was recently named the best-reviewed superhero movie of all time by Rotten Tomatoes (Ragnarok came in third).
A sequel is also on the way, and director Patty Jenkins recently teased that the second movie will have a "great love story".
"I did very much thematically want to get to love – because that's what she stands for – and the complexity of what we're facing," she said of the first film.
"These were big themes, like [Wonder Woman] stands for love and truth, which is particularly important right now."
The Thor series also looks set for a fourth movie, with director Taika Waititi teasing how he wanted the next movie to open.
