Thor: Ragnarok international trailer reveals Doctor Strange cameo

Doctor Strange's cameo in Thor: Ragnarok has been revealed thanks to the film's international trailer.

"I sense a great change in your future," he warns the God of Thunder. "Destiny has dire plans for you, my friend." Thor snaps straight back, "I have dire plans for destiny."

Judging from the setting, and Thor's attire, this seems to be a direct continuation of the scene glimpsed during the credits of Doctor Strange, in which Thor (Chris Hemsworth) visits the sorcerer (Benedict Cumerbatch) in his lair at the New York Sanctum to ask for a little help, having come with Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to Earth in search of their father Odin (Anthony Hopkins).

A link in itself back to Thor: The Dark World, which ends with the revelation that Loki faked his death and has been impersonating Odin. Whatever actually happened, it appears Odin has ended up banished to Earth.

Whether this happens before Hela (Cate Blanchett)'s invasion of Asgard, or after, isn't clear, however. Her own machinations result in Thor being imprisoned on the other side of the universe, after his beloved Mjolnir is destroyed at her hands, where he bumps into a much-changed Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).

"Hulk refuses to turn back into Banner and he’s enjoying his time on Sakaar as a gladiator champion," Ruffalo said of his character's time on the remote planet and its gladiatorial arena ruled over by Jeff Goldblum's the Grandmaster.

The trailer also sees new character Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) kicking some serious butt, alongside Karl Urban's villainous Skurge.

Thor: Ragnarok hits UK cinemas 27 October.
