Good news for thrill seekers - Thorpe Park has confirmed that its new ride, Hyperia, is all set to roll again this week. An unexpected two-and-a-half-week closure came just one day after its grand unveiling at the Chertsey theme park last month, but adrenaline junkies can finally get their fix on the UK's tallest and fastest rollercoaster.

A spokesperson for Thorpe Park made the exciting announcement on Tuesday, June 11: "It's the highly anticipated update, the one we know you've all been waiting so patiently for, and the one we've been so excited to share with you. She's back!"

Announcing the rollercoasters reopening from Wednesday, June 12, 2024, the spokesperson added: "She may have needed a momentary pause after the most epic of launch events, but she's back in full flight and is ready and waiting to help you find your fearless."

Hyperia is touted to notch up an impressive top speed of 81mph and reach towering heights of 236ft. The new ride reportedly carried a hefty price tag of around £18million. With Thorpe Park initially planning for Hyperia to be public-ready by May 24, an announcement came on May 25 that the much-anticipate ride couldn't open due to some unforeseen circumstances, reports Surrey Live.

Thorpe Park bosses initially announced a temporary closure of the ride between May 26 and 29, then revised the date. They initially aimed to reopen the heart-stopping rollercoaster by June 8, but eventually conceded on Thursday, June 6, saying that is not going to be possible".

In a statement regarding the reopening of the ride, Thorpe Park said: "Once again, we want to thank everyone for their understanding and patience. Now it's time to forge your wings of steel, conquer the seemingly impossible, and embrace your inner fearlessness onboard the UK's tallest, fastest, and most weightless rollercoaster, Hyperia!"
