Thought Aeroplanes Were Cramped? You Could Soon Be Stacked On Top Of Other Passengers

Thought that planes were cramped enough as it is?

Well, it could be set to get a whole lot worse, after plane manufacturer Airbus submitted a patent for a cabin that could see passengers stacked on top of each other.

According to the designs, a set of stairs or a ladder will allow passengers to get onto the higher seats - and they’ll also be able to lie down.

Obviously, it all means that airlines will be able to sell more tickets for their flights, but passengers could be left wondering whether they’ll be feeling just a little bit cramped on board.

Describing the design in the patent, Airbus wrote: ‘In modern means of transport, in particular in aircraft, it is very important from an economic point of view to make optimum use of the available space in a passenger cabin.’

But while the company maintains that the flights will retain a ‘high level of comfort’ - it’s yet to be seen whether the designs will be approved.

Would you fancy it?
