Police in London released footage showing a man running over a police officer on October 29, 2019, after he was found guilty of attempted grievous bodily harm with intent.
The Metropolitan Police said Aydin Altun, 26, would be sentenced on October 16.
On October 28 last year, police investigated reports of a shooting in Haringey. Officers found an empty car with bullet holes in it, and a witness reported seeing a black Mercedes leaving the scene. The following day, officers saw a black Mercedes matching the description. An armed officer approached the car and shouted, “Armed police, show me your hands.”
This footage shows Altun driving over that officer. Police said the officer “was left clinging” to the car as it zig-zagged across the road, eventually throwing him onto the pavement. The officer suffered significant grazing and cuts to his head, elbow, knuckles and hand. He said: “I thought I was going to die. I remember thinking if this car was going to crash, I was going to die.” Credit: Metropolitan Police via Storyful
