'I thought I was having breakfast in a quiet area but that soon changed'

I have taken Stanley Park for granted over the years and have only ever used it as a cut through when heading to Anfield stadium on match day - but that will all change after this weekend. Tucked underneath the magnificent architecture of the Isla Gladstone Conservatory is Cafe In The Park, and I don't use the term 'hidden gem' loosely, but I think it's exactly how I would describe this café.

With the sun making a rare appearance, my partner and I decided it was the perfect opportunity to visit the café and make the most of the outdoor seating. Surrounded by trees and against a backdrop of beautiful Victorian architecture, it was the perfect setting for a Saturday morning bite to eat.

I definitely missed the morning rush as I arrived at 11am for a late breakfast and there were only a handful of people in the café at this time. Although quiet, a welcoming atmosphere could still be felt with a bright, modern décor and friendly staff members who were more than happy to help.

I am very traditional with my breakfast order so I opted for the classic full English breakfast. This comes with two eggs, two sausages, bacon, beans, hash browns, toast, tomato and a flat mushroom. My boyfriend ordered a 'bandstand breakfast muffin' which is a sausage patty, bacon, fried egg, emmental cheese, hash brown and homemade tomato relish. Both were reasonably priced with the full English priced at £9.95 and the breakfast muffin costing £8.95.

The food arrived quickly and after telling myself I wouldn't be able to finish it all I soon had an empty plate. The best part was the hash browns, I didn't think anywhere could top the famous McDonald's ones but the crispy outside paired with the perfected fluffy inside was delicious. I had been a little disappointed by the sausages as I do prefer thick ones but they were much more flavoursome than I had expected.

The breakfast muffin went down a treat. My partner usually gets a full English wherever we go, but he is adamant that this will now be his new breakfast order. The portion sizes were generous and he struggled to fit the whole muffin in his mouth so resorted to eating each part separately.

In a serene area of the park I had hardly ventured to before I was surprised by how peaceful it was compared to the hustle and bustle I am used to on match day. You could hear a pin drop sitting outside with just the conversations of people on surrounding tables and birds chirping.

This all changed when a group of about 30 people came into the area of the park where I was eating. I hadn't realised I was sitting so close to a filming location of the Peaky Blinders and a guided tour for the hit TV show was visiting, this unassuming café soon became very busy as people took in the sights and took pictures of the surrounding area.

I would recommend this café to anybody and they serve lunch after 12pm which is something I will be returning to try. You can find Cafe In The Park in Stanley Park, Anfield.
