Thousands Attend Memorial in Rancho Cucamonga for Marine Killed in Kabul Airport Attack

A memorial event was held on September 2 for US Marine Corps Lance Corporal Dylan Merola in his hometown of Rancho Cucamonga, California. Merola was one of 13 US service members killed in an attack at Kabul airport on August 26.

The attack, which was claimed by the Islamic State, left more than 170 people dead and hundreds wounded.

Local news reports said around 5,000 people attended Merola’s memorial in Rancho Cucamonga’s Central Park on Thursday evening.
