Thousands Evacuated as California's Silverado Fire Spreads

The Silverado Fire continued to spread rapidly as some 60,000 residents were under evacuation orders in the area around Irvine, California, on Monday, October 26, fire officials said.

Authorities said the blaze had grown to 7,200
acres
and was 0 percent contained. The OCFA said 500 firefighters were battling the Silverado Fire, but all air support was grounded because of strong winds.

The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning in the area, prompted by heavy winds and dry conditions in Southern California.
