Thousands Fills Parisian Streets in Yellow Vest Protest

Smoked drifted over Place Saint-Augustin in Paris on December 8, as one of the biggest of demonstrations of the Yellow Vest movement took place in the French capital.

Some 8,000 police officers were deployed in Paris ahead of the march, which started at the Arc de Triomphe, went down the Champs-Elysees and onto Place de la Concorde.

French police called for businesses in the Champs-Elysees and Bastille areas to close on Saturday, while Paris landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Louvre would also shut their doors.

On Friday windows and doors were boarded up at stores and businesses in central Paris as the French capital prepared for the following day’s protests.
