Thousands of Flowers Displayed at Washington Monument for Action on Gun Violence Campaign
Thousands of flowers were arranged at the Washington Monument on June 5 as part of a campaign calling for government action on gun violence following a series of deadly mass shootings across the United States.
The public memorial features 45,222 flowers to symbolize each death due to gun violence in 2022, according to gun control advocacy group Giffords, which organized the memorial.
President Joe Biden called for stronger gun control measures from Congress following a mass shooting that killed 19 students and two teachers at an elementary school in Uvdale, Texas, on May 25.
