Aras was rescued from the water and taken to hospital in a critical condition. He passed away three days later on Tuesday, May 21.

Two separate Go Fund Me pages have been set up to raise money for the funerals of both teenagers. More than £6,642 has been raised for Aras and £5,235 has been donated for David - a total of £11,877.

The fundraising page for the family Aras describes him as a "hero" for trying to help David.

It says (sic): "I'm fundraising for Aras Rudzianskas, on Saturday afternoon him and his friends went to a river his friend David went in the water and couldn’t swim so Aras jumped in to help and his friend.

"David still wasn’t swimming whilst they were getting getting pulled away by the current and they were just holding each other and both started to drown while getting pulled away by the river.

"I just wanted to show my respect by setting up a go fund me for our boy who's no longer with us, Aras is a hero for risking this life for a friend, even the littlest money will help towards his funeral️."
