Thousands of Protesters Shut Down Paulista Avenue in Sao Paulo

Thousands of protesters gathered along Paulista Avenue in Sao Paulo on Wednesday, March 15, to protest against recently proposed social security reforms. Paulista Avenue was virtually shut down, causing major traffic and transport delays.

The footage shows protesters reviving the “Fora Temer” chants which began in the summer of 2016 after the swearing in of Brazilian President Michel Temer.

Temer was sworn into office on August 31 after Brazil’s Senate voted to impeach Dilma Rousseff on charges of manipulating federal budgets, which in turn led to nationwide protests. Credit: Instagram/fblima1 via Storyful
