Thousands Queue For Harry Potter Spinoff Role

About 10,000 girls are taking part in open auditions for a part in the Harry Potter spinoff film Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, according to organisers.

Warner Bros have already cast the major roles in JK Rowling's film, including Eddie Redmayne as the main character, magizoologist Newt Scamander.

But there will still long queues outside the Excel Centre in London as girls aged between eight and 12 arrived for to try out for the role of Modesty, a "haunted young girl with an inner strength and stillness".

"I've basically just been preparing how to say my name and a bit about myself," one hopeful in the queue told Sky News.

Another said: "It is extremely unlikely because there are so many people here, but it would be amazing if I got the part."

If one of the girls is successful she will have to be available for filming between August and January.

The film, written by Rowling, is inspired by the textbook of the same name given to pupils at Hogwarts school but there will be no sign of the teenage wizard.

It starts in New York 70 years before Harry's story begins.

:: Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is due for release in November 2016.
