Thousands raised for girl who died in Lincolnshire crash as dad critically injured

Loved ones have raised thousands of pounds to help support the family of seven-year-old Elsie Gascoigne who died in a Lincolnshire crash which left her dad critically injured. Elsie sustained serious injuries in the two-car collision on Metheringham Heath Lane on Friday, January 3.

She was treated at the scene and she was pronounced dead in hospital the following day. Elsie and her dad Jamie were travelling home after going out to spend some of Elsie's Christmas money when they were involved in the collision, a statement on a fundraising page to support the family read.

Loved ones say Jamie has been left in a critical condition after sustaining serious injuries. A statement on the JustGiving page, set up by Elliott Darlow, read: "Unfortunately, the crash claimed the life of Elsie which has left the family in tears and disbelief. Jamie has been left in critical condition after sustaining multiple serious injuries and has a long road to recovery.

"This event is both horrific and unimaginable and we want to support the family through this tough time. We are asking for donations to support Jamie through his recovery and to help towards the cost of the funeral and a memorial piece for Elsie. Any donations and support would be greatly appreciated. Thank you."

So far more than £7,500 has been raised by more than 400 people who have donated. Elsie’s family, who live in Metheringham, are being supported by specially-trained officers

Police have asked for help from anyone who may have been driving along the B1202 at a similar time to the incident.
